SWPBS

At Montpellier Primary School, we are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive. In collaboration with staff, students, and families, we are implementing a whole-school approach known as School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS).

SWPBS is a proactive, evidence-based framework that promotes positive behaviour and helps prevent issues before they arise. It supports both academic success and social development by creating consistent expectations and fostering respectful, caring relationships across our school.

What SWPBS Means for Our School Community:

  • A calm and welcoming school environment where students feel safe and ready to learn

  • A clear, consistent approach to behaviour expectations and support

  • Staff equipped with tools to positively guide student behaviour and wellbeing

  • A strong focus on prevention and early intervention

  • Collaborative support for students and families

Our Key SWPBS Practices:

  1. A shared, school-wide approach to behaviour and discipline

  2. Clearly defined and communicated positive behaviour expectations

  3. Explicit teaching of expected behaviours across all settings

  4. Strategies to encourage and reinforce positive behaviour

  5. Supportive responses to inappropriate behaviour

  6. Ongoing data collection and evaluation to guide our practices

By working together, we aim to build a school culture where every student is empowered to learn, grow, and contribute positively to their community.
