At Montpellier Primary School, we understand that even though the first days of Prep are exciting, it can also be quite a nervous time for students and parents. To help students become more familiar with their new school environment we offer a Transition Program that begins the previous year to your child starting school. The Transition Program commences in November with the kinder children and their parents visiting the school to experience school life. The school offers 1 morning, 2 afternoons and 1 evening session where students come along to school and take part in activities. These sessions include classroom activities, Physical Education and Art. They provide the opportunity for children and parents to meet the different teachers they will be working with and a chance to become familiar with the school buildings and facilities. During the morning session the children participate in activities in their new classroom with their new classmates and the teacher they will have for their Prep year. While the children are in their classroom, parents attend an information session which ends with a morning tea. Each family is given a school readiness fun pack to use at home. The evening session allows the children to bring a special adult to school who has not been able to attend the day sessions. We encourage parents to visit the school during the school holidays or weekends leading up to their child starting school to familiarise them with the playgrounds and school yard. The Prep team is available to answer any questions you may have during this exciting time. Please contact the office for a Prep Information Pack. Provisional Enrolments forms are also available for those families living outside the schools catchment zone.
