Student Leadership

Children aspire to be leaders at Montpellier Primary School.

In Grade 5 students participate in the Grade 6 student leadership speeches by listening to the student's speeches and voting. Children are able to hold the positions of:

School Captain - male and female
School Vice Captain - male and female
House Captains -Barwon, Connewarre, Corio and Moorabool - male and female
House Vice Captains - male and female
Student Council - 8 representative, 4 male and 4 female.

Once elected, students are presented with their badge and embroidered hat at the final assembly. Student leaders and their parents must sign a contract to ensure their behaviour is befitting of their position.

Duties for Student Leaders:

School Captains and Vice Captains

• Attend the ANZAC Service as representatives of the school
• Prepare the weekly fruit boxes for the junior grades
• Create the weekly Principal Award Board
• Conduct the weekly student house meetings
• Assist student councillors with environment activities
• Conduct the Talent Quest
• Assist with Busker's day
  

House Captains and Vice Captains

• Conduct the weekly paper pick up for the Clean Yard Cup
• Assist with the Junior Athletics Sports
• Conduct weekly student House Meetings
• Conduct lunch time activities for other students
• Assist with activities on Good Sports Day
• Accept trophies on behalf of their house

Student Councillors

• Responsible for the tidiness of the school yard by conducting School Yard Blitzes
• Assist with the maintenance of the Vegetable garden
• Conduct weekly House Meetings
• Conduct the Talent Quest
• Assist with Busker's Day
• Present Gardener of the week at assembly
