Playground Rules

SAFETY- Play Safely
RELATIONSHIPS -Treat others the way you wish to be treated
ENVIRONMENT - Care for our environment
NO GO AREAS - Play and eat in the correct areas
Dress - Wear the correct Montpellier Uniform

Expectations:

Play Safely

Play appropriate games.
Keep hands & feet to yourself.
Use equipment sensibly (eg. monkey bars -no flips, skipping bars, or walking/sitting on top of the monkey bars).
Leave sticks and stones alone.
Walk when you are near a building (especially around corners).
See a teacher if you feel unsafe.
Soccer balls, footballs and cricket on oval where it is the safest.
Tackling is not permitted with football - kick to kick only.
½ court basketball only on basketball courts.
No rough play (no piggybacks).
Chasing games are not to be played near or on play equipment.
British bulldog, brandy and other ‘rough games' are not permitted.
Read and obey the ‘signs' around the school buildings - ‘no ball games', ‘walking area only' etc.

For all incidents mentioned above, 1^st infringement WARNING, 2^nd infringement WALKING WITH TEACHER.
NB: TEACHER DISCRETION AS TO WHEN THE REMOVAL OF EQUIPMENT HAPPENS

Swearing is not permitted.
Include others in play.
Respect, care and cooperate with others - Students, teachers and parent helpers.

Care for our environment

Enjoy and be proud of our yard.
Care for our gardens and trees.
Place litter in bins and please pick up rubbish if you see it.
Eat in the designated eating areas.
Saving water is encouraged.
Garden beds are not for playing in.

Play and eat in the correct areas

Playing in the toilets is NOT permitted.
Waste wise shed & Sports Shed only to be visited with a monitor or teacher.
Do not take food that is wrapped in paper or plastic to the oval or playground areas
Out of bounds areas include -

1.front of the school.
2.behind Multi Purpose Room.
3.behind Rooms 20 & 21.
4.the back of the oval (road side of the running track).
5.car park and the gate/front fence.
6.gardens.
7.inside the school buildings (before school, recess and lunch breaks).
8.only visit canteen when buying food items.
9.digging only permitted in the sandpit.
10.Garden beds

Please note: for ALL incidents mentioned above, children's names are to be recorded in the yard duty folder. Some incidents may require students to walk with the teacher immediately rather than being given a warning.

Wear the correct Montpellier Uniform

Nail polish, make up, glitter/sparkles are not permitted.
No jewellery to be worn EXCEPT watches, sleepers/studs (boys & girls).
Coloured message bands are not permitted.
Leggings are NOT permitted under summer dresses.
Coloured hair gel and coloured streaks in hair are NOT permitted and hair gel needs to be kept to a minimum (except on special days).
Hair accessories are to be kept to a minimum (use green and white).
Hats are to be worn outside. Enforced in Terms 1 & 4, encouraged in terms 2 & 3.
Socks or tights must be white, green or grey (coloured socks are not permitted).
Visible temporary tattoos are not permitted.
Hair should be neat and tidy and long hair (shoulder length or longer) is to be tied up (boys and girls) in a style appropriate for school.

Please note: for ALL uniform offences children will be warned and for a second offence a note placed in their diaries.
