Multimedia Centre & Library

The Montpellier Primary School Multimedia Centre promotes a supportive and enjoyable environment which will enhance lifelong learning and teaching opportunities for the school community.

The library contains a wide range of books, both academic and recreational, journals and reference material. A reading corner, complete with soft toys, cushions and beanbags was established in 2008 where students are encouraged to read for personal pleasure.

There is a well equipped technology area established within the library with overhead data projection for demonstrations or student presentations. There are additional computers in the body of the library available for individual student use.
The Library / ICT program;

  • Encourages students to read for pleasure and develops an appreciation of literature
  • Provides students with information literacy skills that enhance lifelong learning
  • Provides a rich variety of resources for recreational reading, research  and use in the teaching programs form P-6
  • Provides instruction in basic computing skills to support classroom teaching (utilising Microsoft Office and other software packages)
  • Allows students to safely access rich information resources online, and teaches them responsible / ethical behaviours when using the internet
  • Encourages students to connect, communicate and collaborate with people all over the world

All grades enjoy a one hour library / ICT session per week.
