Information Technology

ICT (Information Communication Technology)

We believe that students should be exposed to  a curriculum that meets the demands of an increasingly globalised and interconnected world in the 21st century.

Montpellier Primary School has for many years operated at the leading edge in the integration of Information and Communication Technologies in the teaching and learning process.

The advent of Web 2.0, combined with a range of new technologies, enables teachers to create teaching and learning opportunities that develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours which students require in order to live, learn and work in the 21st century.

Our technology rich classrooms; complete with Interactive Whiteboards, data projectors, 4 desktop computers, teacher laptops, scanners, digital cameras, video cameras, digital microscopes and more recently Flip camera technology, provide for all children (P-6) to be involved in a vast array of learning and teaching opportunities that can be made ever more engaging through the use of ICT.

In 2009, Montpellier introduced another exciting component into its repertoire with NETBOOKS being brought online in Year 5  as part of a state-wide trial. The NETBOOK trial is an exciting initiative for Victorian government schools and provides approximately 10 000 students with a wireless-enabled companion device for access anytime, anywhere.
