Grade 3 & 4
In Years 3 and 4, the daily program consists of a 2 hour Literacy (Reading and Writing) block and 1 hour of Numeracy per day. Classrooms are designed to encourage collaborative working with individual and team success. There are no composite classes at Montpellier Primary School.
During the week the children also participate in Visual Art, Performing Art, Library, ICT, French, Physical Education, Sport and the ‘You Can Do It' program.
Our Grade 3 Teachers for 2009 are Aaron Mills, Kathryn O'Donnell & Elise Flynn.
In Grade 3 our Integrated topics are:
TERM 1: How has Geelong changed?
TERM 2: What influences people's food choices?
TERM 3: How does it move?
How does matter change?
TERM 4: How do different communities communicate?
Activities that enhance and further support student learning:
- Excursion to the Old Geelong Gaol, Bollard walk and Art Gallery.
- William Buckley box.
- Dietician visit.
- South Melbourne market excursion.
- Visit Barwon Valley Fun Park to explore how the equipment moves.
- Channel 7, Southern Cross Station and Telstra Dome excursion.Our Grade 4 teachers, Melli Sims, Rebecca Picklum and Amy Winchcomb welcome you.
In Grade 4 our Integrated topics are:
TERM 1: Who discovered our great land?
TERM 2: How do plants and animals survive?
TERM 3: Why is healthy living important?
TERM 4: Why is good quality water important?
Activities that enhance and further support student learning:
- Phillip Island camp.
- Melbourne Zoo excursion.
- Healthy food incursion.
- Water reserve excursion.
