Grade 1 & 2

Welcome to the Grades One and Two units!

Our 2009 Grade One teachers are Kathy Brown, Andrea Ness and Lisa Hastie. 

Our Grade 2 teachers are Lisa Hatton, Rachael LeMaitre and Kristy Botten.

In these year levels the daily program consists of the 2 hour Literacy block (Reading and Writing) and 1 hour of Numeracy each day.  

During the week the children also participate in Visual Art, Performing Art, Library, ICT, French, Physical Education and the ‘You Can Do It' program.

In Grade 1 the Integrated Curriculum topics covered are:

TERM 1: How can we keep ourselves safe?

TERM 2: Who helps us in our community?

TERM 3: How can we make it?

             How has family life changed over time?

TERM 4: What is a life cycle?

 Activities that enhance and further support student learning involve:

• - RACV Street Scene program.
• - Community helper visits (a doctor, life saver, vet, police officer & fireman).
• - Community helper dress up day.
• - Barwon Park excursion.
• - Roaming with Reptiles incursion.

 In Grade 2 the Integrated Curriculum topics covered are:

TERM 1: What can we do to be healthy?

TERM 2 How has our local community changed?

TERM 3: What do magnets and electricity do?

TERM 4: What is our natural and man made environment?

Activities that enhance and further support student learning involve:

• - Healthy Habits day.
• - Healthy food tasting day.
• - Olden day bikes incursion.
• - Olden day dress up and school experience.
• - Scienceworks excursion.
• - Static electricity experiments.
• - Botanic Gardens excursion.
• - Adopting a tree program.
• - Grade 2 camp experience.
